Chaos As Blast Rocks Benin City

There was commotion in the capital of Edo State, Benin City, when a bomb explosion occurred on Tuesday afternoon.

It was gathered that the incident destroyed about five houses.

Initially, residents of the ancient city thought it was an attack by Boko Haram sect, and this caused many to panic and run to safety.

According to reports, a building located on Zomi Zomi Street, in Upper Sakpoba Road, which was being used as a hideout by kidnappers some months ago, was hired by someone recently, but unknown to him, explosive devices were kept there by the hoodlums.

He set some papers in the compound on fire, which reportedly caused the bombs to explode.

After the incident, a combined unit of soldiers and the police invaded the house and arrested some suspects.

The building has been condoned off by bomb disposal experts from the Edo State Police Command to find out if there are more explosives at the scene of the incident.
