Uche Ekwunife Dumps PDP, Decamps To APC

A former Senator of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Uche Ekwunife, on Friday, dumped the party to pitch tent with the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Ekwunife, who represented Anambra Central Senatorial District before her election was annulled by a court, disclosed that she decided to join the APC because her erstwhile party indefinitely postponed its senatorial primaries, which she was not happy with.

The primary was suspended in protest over the arrest of the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, January 5, 2016.

According to her, since the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, said there could not be fresh candidate for the election, shifting the primaries, where she would have been endorsed for the exercise, might affect her candidacy under the PDP.

Ekwunife said she joined the APC to actualise her dream of representing her people at the red chamber of the National Assembly.
