Group Lambasts Buhari Over Anti-Corruption War

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Frontier for Justices has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of being selective with anti-corruption prosecution.

The group in a statement issued on Thursday, December 17, after its meeting in Abuja, lambasted Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC), for their fight against corruption.

The group accused the President of “selective justice” in the prosecution of the war on corruption.

The PDP group also claimed that the APC-controlled Federal Government had started the trial of political enemies, while protecting corrupt APC members.

The meeting, which was held because of the state of the nation and the present situation that the country had been allegedly subjected following to the diversionary anti-corruption war of President Buhari.

The PDP group further lambasted the President, claiming that he is incompetent and insensitive to the unity of the country. The group said Buhari’s government lacked direction, which it had displayed in the last seven months.

“President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressive Congress (APC) have so far shown that this administration was ill-prepared for governance, ab initio and, therefore, has no tact in the affairs of this country. An administration that is not able to present a clear economic blue print in seven months is definitely a failed government,” the group said.

The PDP group also in the statement accused the APC and Buhari for protecting its members in the ongoing fight against corruption. The group cited the case of the inconclusive Senate probe of the former Governor of Rivers State and now Minister of Transport, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi.

Recall that President Buhari during his swearing in ceremony on May 29, promised Nigerians that he will recover all stolen money from indicted public office holders. The president had upon the commencement of his administration embarked on facts finding about the disappearance of huge funds from the country’s treasury, hence he ordered investigation into top officials that served n the immediate past government.

One of such investigations led to the arrest and current trial of the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, by DSS operatives over the misappropriation of the sum of $2.1 billion meant for the purchase of arms for the Nigerian Armed fores to combat the Boko Haram menace currently ravaging Northern part of the country.

Dasuki’s arrest had exposed several alleged corrupt practices under the immediate past administration as top political figures and former bosses of federal government agencies were uncovered. So far most of the people currently under EFCC watch list or have been arrested are members of the ousted Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). But, Buhari recently came under criticism from many Nigerians after the former NSA disclosed that he bought two SUVs bullet proof cars for him from the alleged looted money after the attack on Buhari’s convoy by the Boko Haram terrorists group before the presidential election that ushered him in as the country’s President.
