Corona Virus: Safety Measures And How To Protect Yourself

The first case of Coronavirus has been confirmed in Lagos. Patient has been isolated.

The Coronavirus infection is NOT a death sentence. Most people recover.

To protect yourself, you can do the following

1. Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water

2. Try not to touch your face, especially your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands

3. Use alcohol based hand sanitizers.

4. If someone is coughing, give them space of at least 1 & half metres (5 feet)

5. If you are coughing or sneezing, avoid crowded areas. Eg churches

6. You can also sneeze or cough into your sleeve of the bent elbow. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately

Don't cough or sneeze into your hands. If you do, wash your hands IMMEDIATELY.

7. Stay indoors if you have symptoms such as fever, cough and difficulty in breathing.

- Locate the metal strip at the top of the mask&pin it on your nose bridge

- Cover your nose and mouth properly

- Do not touch the front of the mask

- Wash hands after use

- Do not reuse masks

-There's no sufficient evidence that wearing a mask would protect an otherwise healthy person from contracting the virus, however it may help reduce its spread.

- Do not touch the front of the mask because that's where the disease causing organisms would be concentrated.

NB: The coloured part of the mask should be on the outside while the white part should be on the inside.
